Spring Revival Retreat

April 12-14 2019 // Yoga, Food, Farm & More

WITH Sara Hess & Matt Champoux

What's Unique

Over the last few decades the property has been known as Shenoa, meaning in one of the Native American languages, “the peace you find in nature.”

Join Sara and Matt on this inspiring three-day Northern California Yoga Retreat. Located where the Pacific Coast meets the Anderson Valley, you’ll be in the perfect place for restoration and exploration in nature.

Start and end each day with an invigorating, grounding and deep Vinyasa flow. During free time, hike, enjoy a swim in the  pool, read, or simply bask in the beauty of mother nature. This potent combination of yoga, nature, nourishing food and company is bound to leave you feeling rejuvenated.

Clear the clutter. Invite in the space!

You deserve it.

Weekend Retreat

Start and end each day with an invigorating, grounding and deep Vinyasa flow. During free time, hike, enjoy a swim in the pool, read, or simply bask in the beauty of mother nature. This potent combination of yoga, nature, nourishing food and company is bound to leave you feeling rejuvenated.

Arrive Friday night into a welcome yoga class followed by a beautiful first dinner together.
Start each morning with a light breakfast, followed by a juicy vinyasa flow and rolling into a farm to table brunch.

Your afternoon is for you, to hike or read, to explore or restore, to visit a winery or visit the animals, to take a nap or swim in the river, to wander through redwoods or get a healing treatment.

We’ll meet for an evening yoga class followed by another delicious and local meal. Your evening is yours to connect deeply with new friends or go to sleep early for a full night’s rest.
On Sunday we’ll start with breakfast and have our final yoga class followed by another healthy brunch before we head on our separate ways, or together, back home, or deeper into the beauty of California.

Sara Hess & Matt Champoux

Sara has been a student of yoga since 2000 and has 500+ hours of training (ERYT-500). Based in San Francisco and Marin, Sara is known for leading fun, strong, and intelligent Vinyasa flow classes (Forest and Iyengar influenced). She draws from her dance background, as a former ballet and modern dancer at the elite level, to create intelligently sequenced classes that gracefully synchronize breath, posture, and alignment. Through these key elements, students are supported to explore each pose in depth in order to encounter their full, transformative potential. Sara challenges and playfully invites her students to wake up to their most authentic selves.

Matt Champoux has been a student of yoga since 2000 and is an internationally recognized teacher with 500+ hours of training (ERYT-500). Based in San Francisco, he directs a Mysore-style Ashtanga program at The Mindful Body and teaches Vinyasa at Yoga Tree and YogaWorks. He is a lifelong student of both Hindu and Buddhist yoga philosophy and the shamanic traditions of Amazonia. These traditions inform and color his teachings on Vinyasa and Ashtanga, which are offered in a safe, dynamic, and inspiring way. He often uses props to ensure the practice meets a student where they are at (physically and mentally) in order to ensure their sustainable growth into the best practitioners possible.

The Land

There is a certain magnetism to this piece of Northern California wilderness that has attracted travelers, wayseers and visionaries for nearly a century. Beginning with the native Tabete Pomo tribe which some records say had a nearby village dating back 5000 years, the natural beauty of the Land has been very generous with the people whose lives it’s touched.

The property was first developed by Mary Ward and her brother James Hanen in 1908, who started a lodging resort that continued to operate through the 40s and 50s. During this time, many of the cabins you see today were built. Irving Newman bought the land around 1957 and converted the property to El Rancho Navarro, a long-beloved children’s camp and modern-day resort.

Historic trees of up to 300-years old dot the property, with the renowned Redwood Grove in Hendy Woods State Park, accessible from The Land by forest road. The Navarro River is a significant feature of The Land experience. Bordering the property for thousands of feet with the Rancheria, Anderson and Indian creek tributaries in close proximity to the property makes for great swimming holes and river walks. The miles of forested trails are great for hiking and exploring.

We recommend local wineries nearby for during free time and after the retreat, as alcohol is not allowed on site at The Land.

Travel Info

Welcome to our little piece of paradise just north of San Francisco.

Our yoga retreat at The Land is located 2.5 hours north of San Francisco.

Address: 18501 Van Zandt Resort Road, Philo, CA 95466. This is 5 minutes from the town of Philo.

The Land is located approximately 30 miles from big “civilization.” This isolation and tranquility can deepen the experience possible during a stay at The Land yet can be a significant change in environment for many guests.

For those of you coming from far away, you can either rent a car or we can help you find a carpool. Although we don’t guarantee being able to find a carpool we always seem to make it work and if it doesn’t you can simply rent a car. If you rent a car and want to share the ride, just let us know and we’ll help to fill it with other guests looking for a ride.

Check in: From 3pm on Friday
Retreat starts at 5:00pm first day with an opening yoga class
Check out : By 12:00pm after Brunch on Sunday

Of Every Yogascapes Retreat

Our mission is to connect people to their deepest purpose/truths, wellbeing and inspiration. We combine vibrant yoga and wellness teachers with incredible guides, local culture, nourishing food, inspiring adventure and a crew of fun-loving people from around the world. Along this journey, you’ll have a Yogascapes Guide supporting you every step of the way, from signing up to helping you on a glacier.

While every single retreat we create is unique based on the local culture, incredible teachers, the time of year and the environment, every experience is built on the following pillars.

Each retreat is filled with a mix of yoga, mantra, mudra, meditation and more. To learn more about the specifics of this retreat, check out the schedule or contact us.

When you come on a yogascapes retreat, nothing is mandatory and we build in plenty of time for you to be own your own, to rest more, to explore more, or to be open to whatever shows up.

We love food, period. Delicious, healthy, beautiful, thoughtful food that nourishes the body and inspires the creative soul. Food is where we come together to replenish our bodies and where our community is built.

Traveling is adventure of the senses and we build each trip to open our senses up to the world and be open to the world through our senses.

We believe the experiences that last a lifetime are the ones in which you are learning and integrating what you learn into your life. Our teachers and guides create unique opportunities for deepening and expansion of your practice.

We know that life is overwhelming at times and our nervous systems beg not only for the medicine of adventure, but for deep rest and rejuvenation. A week of quiet nights and deep sleep, time for napping and giving yourself permission to do nothing at all.

Our mission is to connect people to their purpose by exposing them to practices, people and places that bring out their deepest truths and desires. Each one has the intention to bring you into a deeper connection with yourself and your true gifts.

Come with no story to defend and no judgement to be had. Meet people who will change your life and/or share in all the ups and downs. Connect to old friends and family in a new way, on a retreat, or when you go back home. Our own healing is the healing of the planet and so we work work with eco-lodges and companies that have similar ethos and missions.
