5 Ways to Cleanse Your Energy for a Vibrant Spring

March 12, 2019

Spring is almost here and with it will come the fresh energy of new life and new beginnings. During each change of seasons, I like to do mini cleansing rituals that help me release old energy that isn’t serving me any longer and to bring in the things that will make my energy bloom and expand.

Here are a few of my favorite practices that will help you clear the space for a Spring season full of life and vibrance.

1. Disconnect to reconnect.

In order to cleanse your energy, you’ll need to disconnect from the stressors of daily life for a little bit.  Find a quiet place where you can dedicate time and space to your growth. Turn off your phone and really be present with yourself.

2. Clear your mental space.

Pull out a journal or a piece of paper and reflect. What serves you? What makes you feel excited and joyful? Try answering these questions:

  • When I eat _______, I feel happy and energized
  • When I spend time with _______, I feel confident and joyful
  • When I do _________(activity), I feel empowered
  • I feel my best when____________________
  • I feel grateful for the opportunity to_________

Read and re-read your answers. These are the things that you should do more of!

3. Meditate.

Now that you have a better understanding of what brings you joy, take some time to reflect upon it. Try this simple meditation to help call in more joyful energy.

Close your eyes

Take deep inhales and exhales

Search for the feeling that you feel when you eat the food or do the activities listed above.

Continue to breathe deeply letting the joy take over your body.

4. Move.

Next, it’s time to clear out your physical energy. This yoga flow can help you release old emotional tensions, stimulate your detoxification systems and leave you feeling ready for a new, brighter energy to come in.

Chair twist. This gentle twist will stimulate your organs of detoxification, cleansing your physical body. How to: From chair position, bring your hands to heart center. Twist from your core and hook your left elbow on the outside of your right knee.

Cow Face. This pose stretches out your hips, which can help release built up emotional tension. How to: From a seated position cross your right knee over your left knee. Hook your right arm underneath your left arm. Lift your elbows and press your palms together.

Cat Cow. Performing a gentle series of Cat-Cows will help to release stagnant energy from your body. How to: Start on all fours. Breathe in and lift your chest to the sky. Exhale and curve your spine looking back toward your belly button. Continue this movement at least 5 times breathing deeply through each transition.

Camel Pose. This pose is a gentle heart opener that will leave you feeling energized and open to new possibilities. How to: Start on your knees, lift your chest and gently bend back reaching for your feet.

Pigeon. Pigeon pose is another pose that will give you a deep stretch in your hips and provide an emotional release. How to: Begin in Downward Facing Dog, lift your right leg to the sky and pull it through to the ground placing your right knee near your right hand. Your lower leg should be parallel to the top edge of your mat. Square your hips and straighten your back leg. Lean forward and relax into the position for at least 60 seconds. Repeat on both sides.

5. Nourish.

One of the most important things that you can do to clean up your physical energy is to simply eat more plants and drink more water. A diet that is comprised primarily of produce in a variety of vibrant colors, will boost your energy levels and make you feel lighter and more clear.

After taking the time to perform these mini-practices, take a moment to tune in – how do you feel? Ready to leap into Spring with an invigorated mind and body?
