Lindsay Hilscher is a yoga practitioner and teacher based in New York City. She teaches open-level vinyasa style classes at Yoga Vida, where she is a lead teacher for the teacher training and mentorship programs. She teaches Mysore style Ashtanga Yoga as well as a beginner’s course at Eddie Stern’s Brooklyn Yoga Club. Lindsay also works privately with many students, some of who are working with various injuries and health issues.
A devout student of Ashtanga Yoga, she bases her teaching on steady progression achieved through consistent practice. The philosophy behind her teaching is that with a regular practice, over a long period of time the body will become strong and open. As this happens the mind is also trained to become steady and calm.
Originally from Pittsburgh, PA, Lindsay moved to New York to study classical ballet and modern dance. She graduated from SUNY Purchase College in 2007 at which point she also began exploring yoga. She became a vinyasa yoga teacher in 2011. In 2012, Lindsay started a daily Ashtanga Yoga practice under the guidance of Eddie Stern at Ashtanga Yoga New York. Lindsay has taken three two-month trips to Mysore, India to study under Sharath Jois at the Shri K. Pattabhi Jois Ashtanga Yoga Institute.
