Vitamin Sea // Palawan Island Retreat

Dec 8- 14, 2019 // A Wellness Adventure in the Philippines

WITH YOGASCAPES Teacher

ISLAND HOPING. FOOD. MOVEMENT. WELLNESS. BEACHES. ADVENTURE.

Only 16 Spots Total!

Join our island hopping, soul nourishing, yoga moving, sunset chasing, beach walking, community making retreat in one of the world’s most beautiful archipelagos, the Philippines. Our desire is to continue to find the world’s most beautiful places that still have their charm and that off the beaten path feeling we love so much at Yogascapes. Wake up your sleepy body and soul with this vibrant, sun-filled yoga retreat in the Palawan islands.

We’ve explored the world and for island hopping, snorkeling, beautiful beaches, delicious food and friendly vibes, Palawan Island, often call the last frontier of the Philippines, is hard to beat. This past year we visited some of the fanciest resorts in Palawan to plan our trip, but to be honest, they were lacking the character, the intimacy, the special touches and especially the food, that makes our Yogascapes trips so special. So we’re going off the beaten path, and like one of our venues says, the accommodations may not be 5 star, but the experience is and that’s exactly what we are going for on this trip. Some rustic private island hopping love, full of character, amazing food, snorkeling from your own private beach and more. If you’re looking for a 5 star, cush, bland, environmentally abusive experiences in Palawan, we have some other suggestions. If you’re looking for an experience and amazing people you’ll never forget, you’re in the right place!

THE LIFE ON RETREAT

7 Day Adventure

Welcome to your yoga retreat in paradise. Welcome to your private island escape. Welcome to white sand beaches and crystal clear water. Welcome to daily movement classes with an amazing teacher. To gorgeous sunrises and sunsets. To snorkeling and swimming every day. To delicious family style meals with old and new friends.

Our first stop is just north of the most touristy destination in Palawan, where we’ll have our very own private island to call home for 3 nights. We chose this area because it’s a bit away from the crowds, we have the whole island to ourselves and we still get to see many of the spots that people call their favorites. This part of the trip will be a bit more active and crowded with tourists, but it’s worth it and don’t worry, we won’t see many people or crowded beaches at our next stop. We’ll then head to Floral island, on the east side of Palawan, where we’ll enjoy another private island to ourselves, have a covered yoga space to dive a bit deeper into practices and end the trip with some deep rest and relaxation (and of course adventure if it still calls, snorkeling, visit to turtle bay). There is so much to explore in Palawan and we’ve designed this trip so that you have a full experience if you’re only here for a week, or so that it will be a great starting off point or ending point for your travels in the Phillipines. We have some travel  suggestions in our travel section!

We’ll take care of feeding you delicious food, often fresh from the sea and nearby local farms. All you have to do is come with an appetite and an openness to new flavors, combinations and conversations. Fresh fruits and vegetables, lots of seafood, plenty of meat for those that eat it and much much more!

At the heart of Yogascapes is our dedication to only working with experienced, genuine and inspiring teachers that lead the way both on and off the mat. While all of our teachers are unique, each lives for the intersection of yoga and travel. Our teachers have invested their lives in creating safe and beautiful spaces for their students to grow, heal and have fun. We work with each teacher to create a unique, in depth and inspiring program that allows students to dive deep into their body, mind and spirit, while setting the stage for a deeper connection to the land, the people and the culture everywhere we go and beyond.

YOUR HOME

Private Island Retreat

We are so excited to offer this unique retreat, hosted on private islands with a sweet charm. Our first island is a little more family style and rustic, so don’t be expecting 5 star accommodations, but do expect to be charmed and to start your adventure off with fun in the sun, delicious food and far enough from the noise of El Nido, but close enough to taste the beauty. From there we’ll make our way to our second stop just off the coastal town of Taytay which, although is a bit fancier, we’ll still have mostly shared rooms and an adult slumber party feel depending on your room choice. The food here is fantastic, the quiet is powerful and the hosts are incredible.

When traveling to what many people call the last frontier of the Philippine islands, getting there is going to be a little tricky and hopefully a lot of fun. Don’t worry, you don’t have to work, organize, plan or anything like that once we pick you up.

The Palawan Islands (the two major ones you can fly into are Palawan and Coron) are located west of Manila. We are departing from a town called El Nido, which is about 5 hours north of the main city Puerto Princesa.

Meeting Spot: 3pm at Botanica Cafe in El Nido or 3:15pm if you’re arriving by plane that day.

Arrival: December 8th, 2pm in El Nido. We suggest flying into El Nido via Swift-Air from Manilla, Cebu or Coron.

Departure: We suggest flying out of El Nido via Swift-Air on the 12pm flight (no earlier on the 14th) which gets you into Manila at 1:15pm. You can also take the 12:55 flight to Cebu if you are going that way!

Travel:  Most flights to Manila will leave the night of the 6th will arrive the morning of the 8th. Leaving you barely enough, but enough time to make the connecting AirSwift Flight at 2:00pm. We suggest leaving on one of the earlier flights on the 6th which will get you in the night of the 7th or leaving the 5th at night arriving the morning of the 7th. In both cases you would spend the night in Manila, El Nido, or Puerto Princesa, depending on your desired flights.  Make sure that you look at both your international flight timing with your domestic flight to El Nido via AirSwift timing to make sure they align!

Notes: You can also fly in and out of Puerto Princesa but please be advised that you’ll have a 4.5-5 hour drive ahead of you and the only thing you’ll really be missing in Puerto Princesa is the underground river area. On the return, you’ll have a shorter trip back to Puerto Princesa, but still 3.5-4 hours driving.

We suggest you travel and front load this trip so that you can end with us and then fly more directly home. However you can also use it as a launching pad. You can also fly into Coron to explore the island there and then take the fast ferry to El Nido in the morning of the 8th!

Another alternative is visiting Cebu, Bohol, Boracay, Siargao or many of the other beautiful islands east of Palawan first before the retreat. The main city to fly into there is Cebu, while you can get direct flights to some of the other islands from Manila.

If you need travel suggestions do not hesitate to ask.
