Full of mystery and wonder, the natural magic of Joshua Tree is undeniable. We immerse ourselves in colorful sunrises and open starry night skies to celebrate the serene landscape of the desert.
Feet on the earth, heart open – we return to nature.
Feed your sense of adventure and that wild light of your spirit with this weekend campout in Joshua Tree with Molly Jo & Erin Pfahler. Add on an optional restorative sound bath at the oasis of the Integratron.
THE HEART // Set in a world-renown National Park, we’ll explore and hike and follow the paths of our own curiosity and freedom. We’ll celebrate pink sunrises and scramble on top of ancient rock formations to see warm camp fires glowing across the dark desert expanse, under a wide open sky.
OUR PROCESS // Did you know that we build all our trips from scratch? To learn more about our process and what goes into the making of a Yogascapes retreat, click here.
Daily yoga will open our bodies and relax our minds as we step out of the city and into the wilderness. With our mats on the earth, we cultivate spaciousness and breath, reminding ourselves that when we return to nature we return to ourselves.
Our chef will offer healthy, vegetarian meals, plus coffee/tea in the mornings and evenings. Upon registering, you can provide your dietary requests, so we can accommodate them in the nourishing meals.
This beautiful weekend escape is a down to earth campout, not a luxury retreat. We will provide our suggested packing list closer to the retreat and just ask that you come prepared to be comfortable and take care of yourself, knowing we’ll be there to support you as well. We invite new and experienced campers, and yogis of all levels so don’t let that hold you back. Camping gear is not provided, but we can help you find places to rent gear if needed.

“This was an incredible retreat! Camping out and doing yoga right on the desert floor really turned out to be a very grounding experience. The food was INCREDIBLE, Jason did a great job of gauging how hard we could push during classes based on the sun and heat, and the organizers were very present and attentive… I’m so happy to have had the chance to participate in this retreat, and so happy to see Yogascapes offering more affordable retreat options.”

Joshua Tree National Park is an expansive protected area in Southern California, 2.5 hrs east of Los Angeles. It is characterized by dramatic rock formations and beautiful desert landscapes. Named for it’s twisted, bristled Joshua trees, the park sits between the cactus-dotted Colorado Desert and the Mojave Desert. There are many hiking trails and rock climbing routes among the boulders of the Hidden Valley. Early summer in Joshua Tree can be hot! Come prepared with big water bottles and sun protection.
We will be based at Indian Cove Campground, at an elevation of 3,200 feet. Campsites are nestled on a flat, sandy surface between large boulders that tower in unique shapes over the campground and rise up from the otherwise uniform desert landscape. The rocks were formed by volcanic activity millions of years ago and have been exposed and shaped by wind and water over time. They brighten with soft pastel hues during the morning and evening sunlight and glow with campfire light by night, home to local flora and fauna.
Several hiking trails also leave from the campground and rock climbers love the area. There is a short interpretive nature trail and plenty of rocks for the non-climber to explore within the facility. Temperatures typically range from the 70s-low 90s during the day.
This is a large camping area with picnic tables, campfire rings, vault restrooms and parking. We will fill up large water jugs at the ranger station 2 miles away and store it at camp. You are welcome to explore an enter other parts of the park on your own, which may require an entry fee of $20 per car.
You are responsible for transportation to and from the retreat. Only 9 vehicles total are allowed to park at the campsite, so we request you carpool if possible. We will connect all guests before the retreat to coordinate. If we have more than 9 vehicles, some cars may need to park in a different location and carpool to the site.
Driving: Take Interstate 10 to State Highway 62. Turn south on Indian Cove Road. Follow the road into the campground. If coming from the east, follow Highway 62 approximately seven miles west of the city of Twentynine Palms and turn south onto Indian Cove Road.
We will carpool to activities during the retreat.
