This weekend retreat with Katia Sol and Siri Peterson will immerse you in the uplifting and transformative practice of gratitude. You will be guided in developing a daily gratitude practice, through time in circle, alone, and on the land. We will reflect on what we are grateful for from 2014, in preparation for the coming Solstice and New Year. As a movement therapist, postural coach, massage practitioner and yoga teacher, my broad study of eastern, western and esoteric anatomy provides me with a complex lens through which to understand the human body and spirit. My role as both a teacher and a bodyworker is to empower you to heal your body-mind from the inside out.
Healing touch is not a luxury but an imperative aspect of preventative and alternative medicine. As a therapeutic massage therapist whose toolbox includes modalities from both eastern and western healing lineages, I invite my clients into a participatory exploration into empowered self-healing. Softening, relaxing, letting go, sinking into the flow of your body is actually a radical act. The journey of taking care of your body positively affects everyone in your life and, by extension, everyone in their lives, and on and on. Investing in our own well-being is one of the most imperative ways we can be of service to others.
The ancient wellness tradition of hatha yoga teaches us that the wisdom of the body can be accessed through the realm of pleasurable and intentional movement. Through a conscious examination of our habitual tendencies, both postural and psychological, we cultivate resilience and balance while connecting to a larger purpose. In both my private and group classes I offer a plethora of tools that are easily taken off the mat and translated into a life of greater calm, confidence and peace.
During the process of pursuing my M.A. in Integrative Health at The California Institute of Integral Studies, I honed my interest in and passion for wellness and holistic business as a path to social transformation. I’m inspired by creating spaces for human beings to come together to explore, practice and experience optimal well-being in community and in alignment with nature.
Spirit is the space where the body and the mind meet. Greater freedom in the body-mind means greater meaning and happiness in all areas of your life. There is no end to this journey, no destination, just ongoing fearless (and very often pleasurable) exploration.
Working as a tour guide in the streets of Barcelona while simultaneously diving deeper into his yoga practice was the inspiration that eventually led Ben to merge the world of yoga and travel into what is now a collection of some of the most unique adventures on earth. Bringing together his passion for yoga, food, travel, community, healing and adventure was the original drive behind Ben’s passion for leading yoga retreats, however, the life changing transformation that takes place as a result of this coming together of these things is what truly inspires him.
Living in Oakland, CA, Ben now splits his time between the behind the scenes creation YOGASCAPES experiences and being the onsite retreat guide. He is also very much involved in the vibrant food scene of the Bay Area and can be found on weekends hosting Wildsoul’s monthly mouth watering breakfast clubs and farm to table yoga retreats.
ORR HOT SPRINGS
Orr Hot Springs is a small, tranquil resort settled deep in the rolling hills of the Mendocino Coastal Range. Situated on a beautiful country road between the towns of Mendocino and Ukiah, the springs flourish on 27 acres at the headwaters of Big River. Pomo Native Americans regularly passed through this vibrant spot on trading expeditions and on annual treks to the Mendocino coast. Unfriendly tribes agreed to co-exist peacefully while stopping at the hot springs.
In the late 1800s, “Orr Hot Sulphur Springs” became a resting spot on the Ukiah-Mendocino stagecoach line. It developed into a popular resort for city-dwellers who came seeking health and relaxation. The mineral waters were heralded as bringing great relief to arthritis and rheumatism, and to blood, kidney and liver disorders.
The lodge and some of the cabins were constructed in the early 1930s from locally milled redwood and retain the charm and grace of that period. Newer additions blend into the forested river environment.

The kitchen will draw ingredients straight from the garden, offering an ample buffet-style meal plan with large meals twice daily (lunch and dinner) and a tea and snack bar available for breakfast and between-meals needs. Entrees for meals will include some organic fresh ingredients sourced from local farms. With every meal introducing healing foods preparation including raw food delicacies, superfood juices, and healing teas, dining at Orr will be a healing experience.
