Daily yoga with two of the Bay Area’s favorite yoga instructor’s, Ai Kubo and Mark Silva, will be an invitation for deeper personal balance, presence and empowerment. Feel free to participate as much or little as you like in all we offer: sunrise meditation and pranayama, mid-morning Vinyasa Flow Yoga, mid-day play, optional wine country excursions, biking, hiking, swimming, reading or napping, afternoon mellow Yoga, meditation & pranayama, evening conversation, music and meditation.

Our home for the weekend is Mayacamas Ranch, nestled in the beautiful rolling hills of Calistoga. With a salt water pool, local hiking trails, a fireside lounge, organic garden, delicious meals and abundant fresh air, Mayacamas is loved and considered a special oasis by many.
Surrounded by 360 degree views of Mt. St. Helena and the Mayacamas Mountains, take in some of the most breathtaking views in the wine region while lounging and swimming in the salt water pool and jacuzzi. Enjoy luxurious accommodations, exquisite organic farm-to-table cuisine, and the peaceful land and the company of like–minded fellow yogis during the gorgeous harvest time in Napa Valley.
We start on Friday afternoon at 4:30pm with a grounding Vinyasa Flow Yoga class and end with lunch after a morning practice on Sunday afternoon. Take a break from the busyness of life, treat yourself by immersing yourself with the practice of yoga that is refreshing, renewing, and rejuvenating. Just an hour and a half from San Francisco and East Bay, once here you’ll feel a world away. This will be an extremely intimate retreat with a small group of students, so you will get LOTS of TLC from both Mark and Ai. Treat yourself for a rejuvenating weekend!

Mark Silva is a Yoga Teacher and Software Developer. He loves to cultivate wonder in the surrounding world, pulling us into a deeper connection with Consciousness. Initial experiments and forays into yoga classes, have grown into a life-long love affair with yoga practice and philosophy, and all that it can offer us. Yoga and Meditation practice have held a place in his heart for over 10 years. His teachers have included: Richard Rosen, Abby Tucker, Sianna Sherman, and Noah Maze. His children teach him something everyday. Mark’s playful classes give best results when full attention to the mind and body are given!
Mark is certified E-RYT 500, and teaches regular public classes, workshops, and retreats. He frequently collaborates with his partner, Ai Kubo.

Ai is a yoga teacher, mother of two girls, and a scientist. Now with over a decade of teaching experience, she devotes her teaching helping busy people find balance, improve wellness, and live their lives to their fullest potential. Ai is also a scientist. She received PhD in epidemiology from from Columbia University, and has about 30 scientific publications in peer-reviewed medical journals. Her research has been focused on the effects of life-style related factors such as diet on cancer. She also conducted a study on yoga, “A pilot intervention study of yoga for multiethnic patients with heart failure,” published in International Journal of Yoga Therapy (2011). Currently, she is developing studies to see if meditation and mindfulness can reduce stress among cancer patients and their partners. When she is not teaching yoga or working as a scientist, she enjoys spending her time with her two young daughters, gardening, cooking, hiking, biking, and being in nature. She loves the idea of ‘locavoire’- she grows many types of vegetables in her backyard so she has always super-fresh ingredients on the family table. Her two daughters are her best yoga teachers, constantly reminding her to live in the present moment, and to enjoy life fully.

Mayacamas Ranch has guest units and cottages situated in various buildings on the property. All beds at Mayacamas are 100% organic and we feature organic sheets in all units as well. Each unit has its own temperature control system for your comfort.
Swimming in a mild saline solution is much like taking a shower in soft water…. In a salt-water pool the water feels smooth, your skin feels smooth, and many people feel more refreshed. Festive gatherings can also be arranged poolside. Mayacamas Ranch hiking trails range from easy to intermediate and wind through chaparral, fragrant bay and madrone forests, and a natural spring. Soak in our relaxing jacuzzi, a perfect place to start or end your day.
Mayacamas Ranch was once a gathering center for the Wappo Native Americans where they conducted ceremonies, rituals, and rites of passages. Our staff will arrange all the kindling and supplies for you.
Our expansive lawn, surrounded by breath taking views, becomes the perfect setting for all types of ball games, including baseball, football, badminton and volleyball. In addition, horseshoes, frisbee throwing, and kite flying are favorite activities for many at The Ranch.
Explore our Mayacamas organic garden, full of cutting flowers and many of the fruits and vegetables in the recipes we cook for you. Our garden is closed to outside fake nutrients (aka chemical fertilizers) and instead embraces the natural cycle or system that is contained in an organic garden. Yes, we also pay attention to the tenants of Permaculture: care for earth, people, and shared surplus. In addition, throughout the garden you will find evidence of Biointensive practices as shown by the use of our greenhouse, our efficient spacing of plants, companion planting, and our focus on soil building. The Garden is home to close to 50 raised beds for growing vegetables. In addition, it is well populated with ornamental perennial plants and fruit trees, appealing to all senses. You may also enjoy views of the garden from our sun deck off the Lodge.
We offer three payment options based when you sign up! We encourage those that can’t afford the full price option to sign up early for the lowest price. We strive to maintain a balance between offering our programs to the widest range of participants and running a sustainable and thriving company so that we can continue to create and share our experiences with you. Please inquire about payment plans. We can split up your payments however final payments are due at least 45 days prior to the start date of your retreat.
