A yoga retreat to Hawaii is the perfect remedy for the cold winter months. Don’t let the cold drag you down, instead join us on the Big Island for a tropical yoga adventure with amazing teachers and an amazing group.
Take time for deep self care at the end of the winter months on this amazing yoga retreat in Hawaii. Nourish yourself in the magic of the Big Island with The Big Chill Retreat. It is when we are relaxed that we can begin to see our true nature.
Summer and Lily teach hatha-vinyasa practices to challenge the heart and shake up day-to-day calcified energies in a nourishing way with heavy doses of self care and restorative practice.
Hawai’i is a magical place. The paradise string of islands is as remote from any large land mass as you can possibly go and characterized by lush jungle, perma-rainbows, mango coconut avo groves and, of course, lava flow.
The landscape of the Big Island lends itself to the vital power of rejuvenation. Come join us in harnessing the energy of Hawaii; like the molten lava constantly flowing on the island to create new landscapes and transform old ones from within we will tap into our own inherent nature of healing, transformation and rejuvenation.
Summer and Lily will be offering two daily classes including a morning hatha-vinyasa fusion to break up calcified energies in the body and a combination of meditation, restorative yoga, yin yoga, aromatherapy and reiki later in the day to nourish both the subtle and physical bodies. We will set our sankalpa, or intention, with a guided yoga nidra practice to set the tone for melting into the sweet energetics of the landscape and close out our experience with a cliffside fire ceremony overlooking the ocean.
3 meals a day are prepared using as much retreat center sourced produce as possible served on the Lanai; a magical porch with an incredible view. Vegan/ vegetarian/ pescatarian options available for each meal. Coconuts, mangos, guava, papayas and avocados grow everywhere and make for delicious healthful snacking.
Optional activities include touring the organic farm at the retreat center, watsu and spa treatments, walks to Kehena black sand beach, poolside lounging, hot tubs, dry sauna, the hilo farmer’s market, fresh kava bar for a relaxed evening just down the road, hilo ice cream on the Lanai, myriad classes offered at Kalani, and limitless natural wonderments like the “champagne pools” and the canopy offered along the “red road.”
Life is exuberant on Kalani’s 120 acres of organic agriculture, preserved heritage, and retreat accommodations. Exuberant in fiery lava, invigorating ocean, tropical foliage, and exuberant too with people celebrating the spirit of aloha.
Only five miles away, you’ll find easy access to lava fields where the lava flows down into the sea, and Volcano National Park is just a one-hour drive..We are blessed to be upwind, so we have no vog (volcanic smog) here, just the sweet, clean air of the Northeast Trades coming across thousands of miles of Pacific Ocean, considered to be the cleanest air on earth.
Visit our tropical conservation coast and center yourself at the haven Shiva Rea calls “one of the most potent and nurturing retreat centers in the world.”
In addition to the many world-class workshops and edu-vacations, other ways to experience Kalani include our award-winning volunteer and sabbatical programs, or becoming the steward of a Kalani cottage.
