The Heart of Bali: Bagus Jati

March 13, 2015

bagus jati

For one week, we get to call Bagus Jati in Bali our home. We’re in love with the sweet tropical air, powerful waters, incredible friendly locals, and vibrant culture we find there and we can’t help but share this beautiful snapshot of it from

Does it get any better than a 12-acre, five-star health and wellness resort hidden deep in the lush, mountainous rainforests of Bali? No, it does not. For four blissful days, we slept in a thatched-roofed villa on the edge of a cliff, awoke to morning yoga classes overlooking the jungle, ate gourmet dishes prepared using organic fruits and veggies grown on the property, got pampered with traditional massages and banana leaf wraps in a world-class spa, and walked around muttering “This place is f***ing amazing” to ourselves over and over again. It was awesome. Here are a few pics from our first stay at Bagus Jati. Heavy, heavy emphasis on the word first.

What up fam! We’re Yang and Alyssa, a couple of born-and-raised Torontonians currently zigzagging our way across Southeast Asia.

We met on Tinder (yeah, yeah, we know…) in the fall of 2013. In the span of a single year, we managed to fall madly in love, move in together, and hatch a truly insane plan to leave our jobs and friends and family behind in order to venture halfway across the globe.

That’s where 2Packs comes in. It’s our outlet for cataloguing and sharing all of the strange and wondrous and beautiful things we encounter, examine, taste and discover on our travels. And, you know, for taking cool photos of what we wear each day.

So that’s our (ongoing) story. We’re so stoked you stopped by to hang with us, and we hope you’ll come back to check in as we keep moving forward.

(And yes, we both really like 2Pac.)

Before shipping off on this crazy journey, Yang was the fashion editor of SHARP, the largest men’s lifestyle magazine in Canada. You can read his writing over at his website.

Alyssa, meanwhile, is an artist who studied at OCAD University in Toronto. You can see her work on her website.
