Where is this retreat and how do/when do I get there?

Welcome to our little piece of paradise just north of San Francisco.

Our yoga retreat at The Land is located 2.5 hours north of San Francisco.

Address: 18501 Van Zandt Resort Road, Philo, CA 95466. This is 5 minutes from the town of Philo. It is a private property.

The Land is located approximately 30 miles from big “civilization.” This isolation and tranquility can deepen the experience possible during a stay at The Land yet can be a significant change in environment for many guests.

For those of you coming from far away, you can either rent a car or we can help you find a carpool. Although we don’t guarantee being able to find a carpool we always seem to make it work and if it doesn’t you can simply rent a car. If you rent a car and want to share the ride, just let us know and we’ll help to fill it with other guests looking for a ride.

Check in: From 3pm on Friday
Retreat starts at 5:30pm first day with an opening yoga class
Check out: By 12:00pm after brunch on Sunday

What will the retreat be like?

Arrive Friday night into a welcome yoga class followed by a beautiful first dinner together. Start each morning with a light breakfast, followed by a juicy vinyasa flow and rolling into a farm to table brunch.

Your afternoon is for you, to hike or read, to explore or restore, to visit a winery or visit the animals, to take a nap or swim in the river, to wander through redwoods or get a healing treatment.

We’ll meet for an evening yoga class followed by another delicious and local meal. Your evening is yours to connect deeply with new friends or go to sleep early for a full night’s rest.
On Sunday we’ll start with breakfast and have our final yoga class followed by another healthy brunch before we head on our separate ways, or together, back home, or deeper into the beauty of

How much free time will we have?

YOGASCAPES yoga retreats honor giving participants plenty of free time to explore on their own or relax back at the retreat.  We pride ourselves on putting together an itinerary that allows you to dive deep into the sense of place and also dive deep into your well being and relaxation. Classes and retreat offerings are always invitations, so we support you doing what feels aligned for you.

Is The Land eco-conscious?

“While calling The Land an eco-retreat might be going too far, our decisions are always guided by our imperative of being responsible stewards of the land and good neighbors. We’ve always loved old buildings and old things, and like to think these objects possess a spirit of the past and that history has some weight and substance. Secondly, it just makes sense from several perspectives to reuse our resources whenever possible. Most of the buildings at The Land are old.

The front fields are managed for deer and wild turkey (we have quite a few), birds, and wildflowers. Plans to restore our many acres of timber land to its former glory are currently in development.

We realize there is a long way to go and many efforts we can make, and we do believe we are headed in the right direction.”

Where’s the nearest town?
The charming town of Philo is 10 min away.

What do you suggest for tips?
Tips for the local staff would be received gratefully, we have a ‘tips box’ and anything put in there is a kind bonus. You can tip massage therapists directly.

What is the weather like in April?
Spring weather in California is typically mild with a mix of sunshine or chance of rain. Considering The Land is nestled with one foot in the redwoods, it can be cooler there so it is nice to bring layers but we can easily stay cozy next fireplace. Please check the weather in Philo, CA before the retreat. There is a pool and nearby river that people dip into depending on the weather. Please bring comfortable shoes.

Are there animals on the property?
Yes! There are typically some outdoor cats and farm animals on the property. All are adorable and friendly. We’ll receive instructions on how to interact with them during the beginning of the retreat.

Internet and Phone Usage?
There is cell phone service at The Land, but it can be spotty. The Land also has wireless Internet available at no charge.

Health Services?
The Land has no medical services or pharmacy on site. If you will require medical attention or supplies during your stay, please come prepared to administer to your own needs.

Is smoking or drinking allowed?
The Land is a non-smoking community and is permitted only in designated areas only. Fire safety is of the utmost importance. Smoking is not permitted in any indoor spaces such as accommodations or meeting rooms. Alcohol is not allowed on the property.

What if I have a food allergy or do not like certain foods?

Many food restrictions can be accommodated. Please let us know via email about your food allergies and preferences upon booking and securing your reservation.

When are final payments due?

Final balances are due 60 days before the departure date of the trip. If final payments are not received by 60 days prior to departure, YOGASCAPES reserves the right to cancel your reservation and accept new reservations for your space. If you do not think you can pay in time please contact us via email.
