Teacher Spotlight: Gillian St. Claire

I had an incredible time hearing more about Gillian’s daily life. She is grounded, relaxed and strong. She runs with her dog, hangs out with her kids and loves to dance. Get to know her more before your retreat to Costa Rica!

What excites you about your upcoming retreat?

I’ve never been to Panama but I could see it from Costa Rica and have wanted to visit ever since. I’m always excited about wildlife and adventures.

What does your practice look like? What is your favorite pose?

Heavily inspired by a lifelong Ashtanga practice mixed with my classical dance training. I don’t have a favorite or least favorite pose they all have their benefits and specific reason for being. If it’s full of breath I’m happy.

Who are your teachers? Who/what inspires your teachings?

Currently Tim Miller and David Regelin are teachers of choice. I’m inspired by my students and family and my aging body.

What are your favorite self care rituals or habits?

I’m a oil addict. Big napper, and can’t function without my reading time.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

If I’m not teaching or taking a yoga class I will go for a run with my mom and dogs, take a ballet class and the second my kids out of school we chill because she my bestie.

How do you balance spiritual practice with life’s daily challenges?

I don’t think of life as a daily challenge. I was raised in a very spiritual home so it’s just part of who I am. If I’m stressed I move when in done moving I sit…super simple.
