What to Expect:
This isn’t your typical yoga retreat. Moab is desert. It’s dry, it’s hot, it’s harsh, it’s incredibly beautiful. You will get dirty! (Maybe dirtier than you’ve been in a long time.) Our site does have any showers though. And nice bathrooms so you’ll have a taste of home in the harsh conditions. While it’s not a luxury hotel and we’re still camping, our glamping accommodations offer a step-up in comfort and one-of-a-kind atmosphere for exploring Moab.
Growing up in Los Angeles, I often wondered what my purpose was. In many ways, the external world was dictating my life, and I felt rudderless. I spent most of my days buried in books, communing with nature, or lost in music. I would read about the possibility of life through others’ experiences. When yoga found me, I was just out of college and working in the music industry. I was burning myself out climbing the ladder of “success” and losing myself moreso in the process. My Ashtanga practicing boss suggested I try yoga. After my first Savasana, it was as if something deep inside of me finally exhaled. I felt more embodied, capable and clear. I then practiced as much as I could, taking class at every opportunity. I began to have more sustained moments of grace and understanding of my purpose. My yoga practice eventually led me to a different career, reshaped my relationships, and helped me find my voice.
As a dedicated student, I have studied various yoga traditions(Ashtanga, Bhakti, Anusara), with my primary focuses being Ayurveda, Yogic Philosophy, and Hatha practices. In 2007, while completing the YogaWorks 500hr Professional Program, I met my current teacher, Yogarupa Rod Stryker, and began studying ParaYoga (Tantra/Sri Vidya lineage). In 2015, I completed my Ayurvedic Wellness Counselor training.
I am Yoga Alliance registered at the E-RYT 500 level, YogaWorks certified, and lead 200 and 300-hour level teacher trainings, workshops and retreats around the world. My classes are an intentional intermingling of ParaYoga, Hatha, Philosophy and Ayurveda with principles of mindful sequencing and alignment awareness, to help the practitioner feel at ease in their bodies and at home within themselves.
Yoga has helped me know the truth of who I am. It has been my companion through sadness, indecision, joyful and peaceful times. The more I practice, I become more connected to my spirit and remember the interconnection of all of us. Each day through my practice, I have found and continue to learn the possibilities of my life.
