The exotic flavors, colors & smells of Morocco are calling your name. Join Rebecca on this sensory adventure just outside the hustle and bustle of Marrakech at the unique artist/wellness escape, Fellah Hotel.
On this Magical Marrakech Yoga Retreat we’ll indulge in a delicious blend of cultural exploration and a rejuvenating yoga retreat. Perched just outside Marrakech with the Atlas mountains in the background, Fellah Hotel will be our hub of diving deep into Moroccan culture, into our yoga practice, into delicious food, into our friendly community and into rest and relaxation. Just like we seek to integrate into the world through yoga, at YOGASCAPES we seek out venues that integrate with the land and the culture, rather than separate from it and Fellah Hotel reflects this philosophy in spades.
With local artists in residence, a working farm, a thai massage school, a vibrant art and music scene, our Marrakech yoga retreat is sure to be a magical experience.
Daily yoga classes Rebecca Jo will ground, deepen and enrich both your adventure in Morocco and your journey into the beautiful world of yoga.
Healthy vegetarian food and traditional Moroccan plates, created with produce from the garden is part of our retreat experience. Breakfast, lunch* and dinner are provided at the hotel and mealtimes are usually one of our favorite parts of each day and where lifelong friendships are forged.
While we’ll leave room for plenty of optional excursions, we’ll take a group trip into Marrakech to explore the The Medina and Djemaa el-Fna as well as a few other important sites. We will also take a hike into the Atlas Mountains to enjoy the fresh air and enjoy majestic views.
*On days that you go into Marrakech or on an excursion, lunch is not included.
The most basic questions are often the hardest to answer (or maybe just over used). where are you from? what do you do? what type of yoga do you teach? who am i? where am i? everywhere, someone…i came from the cosmos and i just teach yoga. somehow that doesn’t satisfy the curious mind…
Consider me an eternal student, a free spirited explorer diving into the depths of my own being, searching the globe for guidance and inspiration. i am a natural born healer, an intuitive mind with a strong connection to the energetic rhythms of life. as are you. through the experience of pain i’ve learned about the healing potential of the human body and have since dedicated myself to sharing this understanding. i hope it helps.
Trained in the arts of dance, gymnastics, visual imagery and design, yoga and awareness through breath centered movement, I incorporate a life time of lessons into each class.. encouraging my students to integrate practices of conscious flow into daily motion. i personally believe there is no one size fits all style of yoga practice for everyone.. and hesitate to even use the name yoga these days because of the divisions we have created within this holistic practice. my own personal routines vary by day and mood, mixing meditation practices, pranayama, qi gong, self massage and acupressure with acrobatics and traditional hatha practice. we are all unique in our needs, every day of our life and our daily devotion to ourselves should reflect these shifts.
Beyond movement and breath my interests include natural plant medicine, art and music therapy and being the best human i can be for all of the four, six and eight limbed creatures that roam the earth. i make natural remedies and beauty products from my kitchen, give foster care to stray animals and gladly share space with spiders. my intention is to live a simple life, filled with love, laughter and beauty…to learn more about my journey to now:
In between Marrakech and the Atlas Mountains, Fellah Hotel straddles exciting cultural exploration and quiet country escape. Authentic. Luxurious. Cool. FELLAH is a vibrant hotel just outside of Marrakech. Impeccable service, noteworthy dining and sumptuous amenities teams up with yoga classes, a tree house and our small working farm where guests can actually gather eggs, milk groom a donkey or a goat. Our economic friendly, artistic and Hammam-style guest experiences will transport you to another place. Yet we REMAIN Firmly connected by our sense of place as each guest’s check-in contributes a portion to the Dar al-Ma’mun, an UNESCO Recognized art center and library That Provides education and cultural activities for our local village. In fact, many of our associates are anche Fellah village residents. We’re driven by a passion to share our rich Moroccan heritage through our contemporary vision of the future.
Fellah Hotel is full of artistic surprises like Touco’s Tea house where you can enjoy a tea ceremony, selected by El Meki – the little man serving in the restaurant who, despite being a member of our waiting staff, is also an unbeatable herbal connoisseur and can tell you everything you need to know about the benefits of verveina, mint, lemon grass and all sorts of mysterious local herbs. Don’t expect to understand him though: he speaks only Arabic (but some of our well-equiped guests manage to communicate with him using Google Translate!).
So much more than just an average hotel spa, the Wat Po Thai School of Traditional Massage (the oldest form of Thai Massage) has found its home here placing Tai Chi and yoga classes at your fingertips too. The hotel restaurant presents a unique menu of authentic, fine cuisine with a range of vegan and Hallal dishes to sample.
