There’s no where else in the world where the culture and the people are such clear reflections of the magnificent nature that surrounds them. As Iceland embraces you it teaches that we are not just trying to be one with nature, but that we are nature itself. The beauty of a yoga retreat is the attention given this concept of embodying our own nature and there’s no better teacher than the young but wise, Iceland. On this journey we’ll pulse between diving deeply into the most magnificent and powerful parts of Iceland and the most magnificent and powerful parts of the human experience. We’ll start by exploring Reykjavik, and journey south, then head north into the enchanting winter wonderland with the ultimate goal of seeing the Northern Lights and joining together as a small supportive community coming from around the world. While our heads will be tilted up to the magic of the sky our bodies will begin to ground in the earth with wonderful yoga classes. We’ll take it a step further and sink into the healing and unique waters of the hot springs and awe inspiring glaciers.
The amount of music and art that comes out of this tiny capital of less than 300,000 people is mind-blowing. This will be a time for exploring on your own, shopping, going to delicious restaurants, reading & writing, in cafes, soaking in hot tubs and enjoying this quaint european city. We can’t visit Iceland without exploring the beauty and power of the Glaciers on the South Coast.

Gloria Baraquio, E-RYT 500, is a bhakti yogi from Hawaii who began her practice in 2003 when she began suffering from stress and anxiety. After experiencing her ujjayi breath for the first time in a yoga class, she finally understood the importance of breathing and how it could calm, center, and ground her life. She began teaching in 2006 and embarked on a journey through vinyasa, ashtanga, Iyengar, hatha, bhakti, kundalini, somatics, ecstatic dance, Nia, Rolfing, acupuncture, physical theater, and natural foods, gaining a comprehensive understanding of the body, mind, voice, movement, and nutrition. As a teacher and Director of Yoga/Wellness at The Springs in Downtown LA, Gloria’s desire is to help others cultivate an intimate relationship with themselves and their surroundings so that they can live more fully, with love, peace, gratitude, and well-being.
Gloria’s background is in education, performing arts, film production, and community building. While working as a TV host, writer, and actor in Hawaii, she taught K-12 students in public charter schools (Language Arts, Math, Digital Media, and Yoga). Living both on and off the grid of the Big Island for 7 years was her greatest training in spiritual practice, yoga, natural healing, and community building. She is certified to teach vinyasa and aerial yoga, and she is a Lead Teacher Trainer for Shivakali Yoga. She continues to host Teacher Trainings and retreats in places like Hawaii, Bali, Nicaragua, and the San Diego Desert.
