Daily yoga practice in the global heartland of geothermal energy, meditation, hot spring soaks, glacier hikes and northern lights serve as the backdrop for this inspiring journey of inner and outer exploration. You’ll get a diverse overview of this magical land as we travel to three different amazing hotels in three different locations, starting in south to explore glaciers and waterfalls, then we’ll move to a beautiful hotel in the cultural center of Reykjavik and finish at a favorite destination and what many Icelander’s call the most magical place in Iceland. Plenty of free time and optional trips make this escape customizable to all levels and interests.
WHO IS THIS TRIP FOR?
This trip is designed for people with all levels of yoga and adventure experience. Men, women, couples, best friends, old friends and soon to be new friends. Our goal is to connect as deeply as possible to nature and to the cultural core of this beautiful place. I mean how often do you get to go to Iceland with a group of people that are passionate about such similar things?! This means we’ll be outside as much as possible, hiking to hot springs, walking in mossy fields, following rivers to see where they take us, climbing glaciers etc. Nothing we do is mandatory but everything we have planned is irresistible. This is not a “luxury yoga retreat” by any means, that’s not why we go to Iceland, but don’t be surprised if you fall in love with all of the charming places we stay, or the healthy food we work hard to find in a country known most for it’s fermented shark meat and puffins.
Arrivals: The group pick-up from Keflavik Airport will depart promptly by 7:15 am on the first day of the retreat, Sep 1st. This transfer is included. The meet-up spot is Joe & The Juice Cafe, located to the left after immigration and customs. To make that shuttle, you’ll want to land by 6:45 am. If you miss this arrival window, you will be responsible for additional transportation costs. If you arrive before the 3rd and would like to meet us at the airport or Blue Lagoon, let us know and we can help you plan.
Departures: IMPORTANT: Please book flights *after 4pm* on Sep 8th. There will be one group drop off in Central Reykjavik and another at the airport.
A Day in the life of a yoga retreat to Iceland:
“Yesterday we listened. It was one of those days that is marked by such a unique fullness that you no longer need to search for anything. After a morning yoga class and wonderful lunch we hiked along the coast, swam in the North Atlantic on a black stone beach, played in a singing cave and ran down a mountain through lava fields filled with soft moss and as many wild blueberries as we had time for. Time stopped and life started beating by the ripeness of blueberries and the speed of our feet. Our destination was a blurry line of direction and distraction. After a delicious meal and restorative yoga class we were gifted an hour of the most spectacular show I’ve ever seen, the Northern Lights. We spread out in a hay field and instead of finding cows, quite literrally I began to hear a series of “wows”, over and over and over again until the lights died down and it was time for bed.” – Ben Crosky, Guide, 2012

This is your time to explore on your own and do any optional excursions of your liking.

Most of the food we’ll eat is organic and local. Delicious vegetarian options as well as fresh, local fish and meat for those that eat it will be available. Breakfasts are usually buffet style featuring cheeses, fruits, skyr(icelandic yogurt), cereals, juices and coffee/tea. We can accommodate most food requests as long as we know in advance!
In Reykjavik you’ll be going out for lunch and dinner. Because we will not always be eating together people expect to to pay for 2 meals a day while we are in Reykjavik. There are a few delicious vegetarian restaurants and one raw food restaurant near the studio. There are a lot of international options including a delicious Indian restaurant that we ate at last year.
