The Retreat

Arrivals & Departures

Arrive by 3:30pm May 12th – We will be meeting at the airport then taking a long drive over the atlas mountains to sleep the night in Ben Et Haiddou, before heading the rest of the way to the Sahara.

Marrakech Menara International Airport.

Suggested Travel.
Book from JFK or Fly Through London/Other Major European cities, Madrid, Lisbon, Barcelona.

Departure is up to you, we suggest flights after 11am to have a relaxing morning but we will be 20 minutes from the airport. Transfers back are included between 9am-12pm back to Marrakech or the Airport, but you are welcome to depart later if you prefer.

What is the weather like, seasons temperature?
Average is in the 70’s in Marrakech and up to 90 + in the desert

How long is the drive to the desert?
It’s a long trip! Going to the desert we will stay the night in a beautiful town halfway. On the way back, we’ll make a lot of stops, however it will take most of the day to get home. Part of the drive is over and through the Atlas Mountains, which does get windy. We will be going in 4x4s.

Are there bathrooms / showers in the desert?
The tents have en-suite bathrooms with eco toilet, mirrors, toiletries, and hot and cold hammam washing with towels.

Is there a power source in the desert?
Yes, however we encourage you to disconnect while in the desert!

How active is this retreat?
We won’t be doing any huge hikes but we will be on the road and moving around quite a bit. We will most likely ride camels into the desert however there is an option to take the 4×4 straight to camp. The conditions may be intense in the desert.

Our Home:
We will be staying at Camp Adounia in the Sahara and Fellah Hotel just outside Marrakech

What is the food like?
We will be eating typical Moroccan food with a healthy twist.

Food & Dietary Restrictions:
We can accommodate most dietary restrictions, however the more specific ones may have less offerings in the desert.


Wi-fi/Cell Service/Electricity: Wifi in Marrakech, but not in the desert! In Morocco the power sockets are of type C and E. The standard voltage is 220 V and the standard frequency is 50 Hz.

Currency/Cash/CC: Moroccan dirham

Visa & Vaccines: Passport needed valid to 6 months after departure date.

Language Spoken at Destination: Arabic,English and French.

Travel Insurance

Yes, YOGASCAPES requires each trip member to purchase individual travel insurance for their trip. We suggest that you include “cancel for any reason” with your policy in case you need to make any last minute adjustments as we will be unable to refund you within 60 days.  You must purchase travel insurance that includes medical coverage.


What should I pack? Here is our general retreat packing list and our tips on packing for flights. For this retreat in particular, don’t forget to pack:

Weather is on average in the 70’s in Marrakech and up to 90 + in the desert. Make sure to pack what you need to feel safe and taken care of on retreat.


  • Yoga mat and any props you want!
  • Comfortable walking shoes + sandals
  • Sun protection + hat
  • Sarong/cover (optional but recommended)
  • Bathing suits
  • Journal
  • Lightweight pants for evening
  • Small, cross-body purse or day pack
  • Money belt if you like to use them
  • Flashlight / headlamp
  • Cash (recommended $300+ for massage, food, shopping, etc…)
  • Valid Passport
  • Reusable water bottle
  • Power adapter
  • For on the plane: tea, ear plugs, eye mask, chapstick, cozy socks


Payments & Cancellations

Cancellation Policy

If you wish to cancel your retreat you must notify YOGASCAPES in writing. Once we’ve received your notice, cancellation will take effect subject to the following:

If cancellation takes place more than 60 days prior to your departure date, any payments made will be refunded minus your deposit.

If cancellation takes place between 30-60 days prior to your departure, 50% of the trip price will be forfeited.

If cancellation takes place less than 30 days prior to your departure date, 100% of the trip price will be forfeited.

Important: If you do not submit full payment 60 days before the retreat, and do not cancel your registration or respond to our communication, YOGASCAPES retains the right to charge the remaining balance due to the credit card provided and release your spot. Any amount forfeited, which has not then been paid to YOGASCAPES by you, will be recovered from you by YOGASCAPES as a debt due and payable. Consider travel insurance to protect the costs of your trip in the case of injury, illness or inability to attend for other reasons.

Changes/Trip Cancellations

YOGASCAPES reserves the right to make any changes deemed necessary by our team, trip leaders, teachers or partners. In the rare case of a cancellation on the part of YOGASCAPES we will offer a transfer to another trip or a full refund of your funds. YOGASCAPES is not responsible for any expenses or damages incurred as a result of trip cancellation including preparation costs, airline tickets, travel documents or other expenses. YOGASCAPES reserves the right to cancel any trip prior to departure in the event that there are too few people booked in which case you will be given a full refund of any and all payments made to YOGASCAPES. You will not be entitled to claim any additional amounts or seek any compensation for any injury, loss, expenses or damage (either direct or consequential) or for any loss of time or inconvenience which may result from such cancellation (including but not limited to visa, passport and vaccination charges, or departure, gear purchases, airport and airline taxes).

Final Payments

Final balances are due 60 days before the departure date of the trip. If final payments are not received by 60 days prior to departure, YOGASCAPES reserves the right to cancel your reservation and accept new reservations for your space. If you do not think you can pay in time please contact us via email so that we can arrange a payment plan.
