Where is EcoYoga?
EcoYoga is just 2 1/2 hours from Glasgow city centre – yet in the secluded, remote Highlands of Scotland. Set in magnificent Scottish scenery; hills, lochs, rivers and forests abound. The ecoYoga Centre is totally off-grid. Powered by our 550Kw hydro turbine and a large bank of solar panels.
Ecoyoga centre has been created as an expression of a healthy, happy, carbon free, sustainable lifestyle. The centre has been converted into a yoga centre with luxurious accommodation for a genuinely ‘eco’ holiday. Set in magnificent Scottish scenery with hills, lochs, rivers, waterfalls and forests abound.
How do I get to EcoYoga and what time should I arrive/depart?
The closest airport to EcoYoga is in Glasgow Int’l Airport. There is one shared shuttle going to ecoYoga on August 6th. Pick up stops will be at 2:30 pm from the Fraser Suites in Glasgow and 3 pm from Glasgow International Airport. We suggest arriving in the morning or a day before to stay in Glasgow. The shared airport transfer is included and guests will enjoy a scenic drive to EcoYoga for an evening yoga class, opening circle and dinner. We are suggesting guests consider staying at the Z Hotel for comfortable budget accommodations, and Fraser Suites for a little more space to stretch out. There are also plenty of great Airbnb options locally.
Any guests arriving after noon have the option of taking a 2.5 hr bus ride ($50 one way) which will be just as beautiful (inquire for details).
IMPORTANT: Please do not schedule your departure from Glasgow for earlier than 1 pm. There is only one shuttle to Glasgow airport after breakfast on the 12th and if you need alternative transportation, you will be responsible for additional costs. Afternoon and evening flights on the 12th are OK, or you can stay overnight in Glasgow and depart on the 13th. Feel free to contact us directly to confirm that your flight time will work.
What is the yoga studio like?
Our glazed yoga studio, over-looking the gorge of the River Liever, is the perfect location to learn the art of Yoga. The tranquil space is also perfect formeditation, chanting, discussions or asana clinics. The 60 sqm shala is purpose built with under floor heating and has a very calming ambience. The shala is fully equipped with mats, blocks, blankets and wall straps. During practice the soul is gently soothed by the sounds of the nearby waterfalls.
What are the spa amenities like?
We have several bathing areas and showers to choose from. Inspired by the Japanese tradition of the ‘Sento’ or public bathing house you can soak in our natural wooden hot tub in the Dome, or choose some hideaway bathing spots in the forest or river bank. Our artisan underground sauna is a real treat, perfect for warming up and relaxing those muscles. We have two cold plunge pools for cooling off, filled with water straight from the spring.
The outdoor heated bathtubs are the ultimate in natural bathing and an experience not to be missed. It really is a magical opportunity to connect with nature and indulge your wild side.
What is the food like?
Meal times are fun and sociable with the whole group sitting down together for meals. We use as much fresh produce from our garden as possible, depending on the season, and all of the meals are vegetarian with options for vegan and wheat or diary free. We have eggs from our hens which are used for breakfast and quite simply delicious. Local smoked or unsmoked fish is available for guests to cook in the guest kitchen if they would like a meat option.
What are accommodations like?
We have 10 double rooms each with an en-suite toilet and sink. There are two showers at either end of the building. We also have a converted bothy, with three double rooms and a toilet. Our newest edition to the accommodation list is a state of the art Yurt, with three single beds, each with a curtain for privacy.
Every room has a luxurious king size bed, organic fair trade cotton sheets and a choice of four pillows to choose from. We believe that a bed makes a big difference to your level of comfort. The rooms are all individually heated with electric heaters which are controlled by the guest. There are also two showers in the dome, with the hot tub and another in the main house along with an indoor bath tub.

Swimwear and a sarong or wrap for the sauna (we have lovely 100% cotton Turkish wraps to purchase at the Centre). Shampoo/conditioner. Waterproof jacket. Waterproof walking shoes/wellies. Torch. Your favourite Yoga mat (we have 100% environmental ecoYoga mats in our studio but you may wish to bring your old favourite – we also have ecoYoga mats for sale at the centre). Yoga clothes to practice in. Cash to pay for massages (to Bettina) or to purchase Yoga or sauna wraps.
Massage at the ecoYoga Centre – offered by Bettina Vittoria I trained as a Therapeutic Massage Therapist in Glasgow in 1989 and since then worked in my own practise, in hotels and with other practitioners in their clinics. Over the years, whilst working with many different patients and their health problems, I have developed my own massage techniques based on the Swedish/Therapeutic Massage I was trained in, incorporating hot stones, deep tissue massage and working on trigger points. Originally from Switzerland I have lived in Argyll for 29 years. I had planned to come here just for a short spell to learn English, but fell in love with the beautiful landscape, the open spaces and the sea. And of course a few years later with a man. Like many people here I have various jobs, from teaching assistant to lumberjack, but I find my work as a massage therapist the most satisfying and rewarding. Massages: £50 per session.
