Where are we camping?
From its thunderous ocean breakers crashing against rocky headlands and expansive sand beaches to its open grasslands, brushy hillsides, and forested ridges, Point Reyes offers visitors over 1500 species of plants and animals to discover. Home to several cultures over thousands of years, the Seashore preserves a tapestry of stories and interactions of people.
We will be camping at Coast Camp, nestled within a small coastal grassy valley with easy access to the beach and tidepools. The beach is within 200 meters (200 yards) of the campground.
How do we get there and where do we meet?
Please park and meet just next to the HI Point Reyes Hostel (Point Reyes National Seashore, 1390 Limantour Spit Rd, Point Reyes Station, CA 94956). This is the the shortest approach (2.9 km or 1.8 miles) on the slightly uphill hike on the Laguna and Firelane Trails, starting at the Laguna Trailhead just past the hostel. You will want to take note of directions in case you lose cell service before approaching. But you can also ask for directions at the Bear Valley Station.
Please arrive by 1 pm so we can start hiking together on time by 1:30 pm.
You are responsible for transportation to and from the retreat. We highly suggest carpooling and will connect you with guests before the retreat to coordinate.
How is the hike in?
The hike is a moderate 2 mile, slightly uphill hike, through some covered areas and on coastal bluffs. It usually takes around 1 hour and it is recommended to bring water, comfortable hiking attire and a sense of adventure.
What we will be doing once at camp?
Exploring, doing yoga, playing at the beach, enjoying meditations, doing optional hikes or runs, eating healthy food, sleeping under the stars, and enjoying the fresh air!
Do I need to carry my own gear in?
Yes, this is an active retreat where you carry your own gear. Since space is limited, we ask that if you are attending with someone and are comfortable sharing a tent, you do so. Please also consider the size of your tent to make sure there is enough space for everyone (ie. 1-2 person tent for 1 person, 2-3 person tent for 2 people, etc…).
Is camping gear available?
We are happy to connect you with affordable gear rentals in the Bay Area. Please inquire at help@yogascapes.com if you are interested in renting gear.
Which campsite are we at?
We will be at Group Site 8 AB at Coast camp from June 8-10.
What are the amenities at our campsite?

Moderate to Active
In Havana, Cuba’s capital, we’ll stay in a homestay 1 block from the sea in the hip neighborhood of Vedado. This will be our jumping off point for all of our adventures throughout the old and new city. Our homestay offers beautiful rooms – mostly double accommodations, but single accommodations are available. They are basic but provide an authentic look into life on the island.
Viñales is located in western Cuba, a few hours from Havana. Boasting colorful houses and botanical gardens, Viñales is scenic, most known as the gateway to the Sierra de los Organos mountains and the Viñales Valley. The valley’s large limestone hills are will known to rock climbers and hikers for dramatic views. Our homestay will be adjacent houses with a backyard of nature views and farms.
What is the food like?
We always seek the healthiest food and high quality ingredients wherever we go. That said, healthy food is not one of the core strengths of Cuba. So we work with local partners on the island to find the best we can and invite you to have an open mind to basic nourishment during the week. Vegetarian options available.
Food & Dietary Restrictions: Most dietary restrictions can be accommodated. Please let us know your needs when you register.
Wi-fi/Cell Service/Electricity:
WiFI cards can be purchased for 2-5 CUC for an hour. There are hotspots in hotels and some parks. In the past few months Cubans have WIFI available in their cell service. Some internet functions such as banking are blocked. WhatsAPP and Messenger should work if you are connected.
Currency/Cash/CC:
The currency in Cuba is Cuban Peso.
Once you are in Cuba, it is cash only. We recommend a minimum of $750 a week. Some guests have brought more and been happy to have the cushion when they saw art or something else came up. You do not have to change all of the cash that you bring and can just have it, in case. For $100 USD you will get $87 CUC so you loose about 13%. Euros fluctuate on the exchange rate and sometimes are better but it depends on the rate you pay to buy Euros.
Visa and Passport: Passport needed valid for 6 months after departure date and a Tourist Visa is required for US citizens.
How do I buy my entry visa?
When you book your flight the airline will ask you what category of the general license you are traveling under. You will sign an affidavit. Your trip is under the category educational exchange: people to people. The airline will make the cuban visa available for purchase at the last departure airport before getting to Cuba. The range in price is $50-100 depending on the airline.
Do I need an adapter?
Most places have both 110v and 220v. An adapter is usually not necessary but a power strip is a good idea to protect against power surges.
What number should I give my family to reach me in an emergency?
Your family can call the Cuban cell phones for Shoshanna 5497-2514 or Isabel 5275-0649. If they call from the US it would be (01153) before either number. If their phone service does not allow them to call, they can purchase a calling card from Cuballama. Your phone will probably work with roaming charges if you prefer this option. Please consult with your cell service.
Language Spoken at Destination: Spanish, English
Travel Insurance:
If international: Yes, YOGASCAPES requires each trip member to purchase individual travel insurance for their trip. We suggest that you include “cancel for any reason” with your policy. You must purchase travel insurance that includes medical coverage.
When are final payments due?
Final balances are due 60 days before the departure date of the trip. If final payments are not received by 60 days prior to departure, YOGASCAPES reserves the right to cancel your reservation and accept new reservations for your space. If you do not think you can pay in time please contact us via email.
